Moscow continues a massive implementation of the tram elevated platforms. They were constructed at the 25 tram stops in the Moscow center for the passengers safety.
New platforms in the capital were built during the four streets improvement in the center and in the south of Moscow: Novokuznetskaya, Kozhevnicheskaya, Dubininskaya and Danilovsky Val streets. Now passengers can get off the tram not on the traffic area, but on a safe stop.
3 stops on Novokuznetskaya street were built in a Viennese style – the road for the cars rises to the sidewalk level forming elevated platforms. For the passenger safety on Dubininskaya, Novokuznetskaya and Danilovsky Val streets were widened sidewalks – car drivers will not be able to overtake a tram while it is standing at a stop.
“We continue to develop the Moscow Tram - this is an order from the Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin. We bring the latest trends into the street improvement projects. This allowed us to construct new elevated platforms at 25 tram stops on four streets. They improve safety and are convenient for all passengers, including those with disabilities - the platforms are located on the same level with the car floor, making it easier and faster for people to get on and off the transport”, – said Maksim Liksutov, the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Transport.
As part of the Moscow improvement project, more than 300 elevated platforms have been constructed in Moscow in recent years, and modern waiting pavilions are being installed. In addition, the modernization of tram tracks continues: the replacement of the old tracks with continuous rail, which significantly reduce vibration and make the trip more convenient.
